Click the “+” icon to open the FAQ below.

How does this auction work?

Unlike a “live-auction”, an online auction allows you the opportunity to bid on merchandise on what you believe a fair price would be without the pressure of making quick decisions. Once you are interested and know what price you are willing to pay, you submit a bid which is forwarded to the owner of that product or service. The owner will usually respond in a short period of time to let you know if your offer was accepted or declined. Depending on how the long the product has been listed, the owner may let you know that other offers are going accepted.

What charities have been identified to receive donations from this program?

All of the charities we have approved for this program benefit local Cypress/Tomball schools in need.

Where do the items come from?

The items listed on our page were either donated or owned by members on this site.

Here are a few people or businesses that have donated to this program:

  • Kim and Jeff Hastings

Who is The Insurance Teacher?

Kimberly K. Hastings, Agent

A Cypress, Texas resident since 1999, Kim retired as a Librarian in the Cy-Fair school district to pursue her dream to own a small business. After careful research and support from her family, she decided that owning an insurance and financial services agency is exactly what she had been looking for!

Developing a marketing strategy was the easy part! Already an involved member in the Cypress and Tomball, Texas communities, she knew she could rely on the support of her many loyal friends and family to help her get started. Taking her many years of experience as an educator, she incorporated her Agency Promise of focusing on delivering great advice rather than high pressure sales to grow her small business. And it worked!

Let’s face it – insurance is something that most people take an interest in when they need to use it. When this happens, it’s often too late to make a change and the insurance consumer is left feeling cheated when coverage does not meet expectations.

Kim may not be old, but she is old fashioned when it comes to delivering high quality service! With a slogan of “Helping You Make Smarter Choices about Your Insurance,” Kim will take the time to explain your insurance program, make certain you are getting every discount you can qualify for and allow you to select the best options for you and your family.

Take a few minutes to complete our Customer Consultation Request and see how the Insurance Teacher can make you smarter about your insurance!

Do I have to be a customer of the Kim Hastings Agency to win?

Well, if you are not a customer – you should be!

But no, you do not have to be a customer to purchase an item from this page…or even win one of our raffles!

We have great rates and AMAZING coverage. When was the last time your insurance agent cared enough to make sure you had the right coverage and every discount you were entitled to receive? Maybe it’s time you got a second opinion!

How much of the proceeds go to charitable causes?

All profits received from transactions on this site go directly to the charity chosen. Profit is determined by subtracting the cost to obtain the item and transaction fees (if any).

How can I donate for this project?

Thank you for asking! If it were not for caring members on this site, we would not be able to make donations to these very worthwhile causes.

To donate an items, complete the “Make a Donation” button on this page or contact us at 281-379-5400 for more details.

Are purchases tax deductible?

In most cases, when you receive a benefit from the purchase of an item used personally, it would not be a deductible expense reported on your income tax return. Of course if you use the item in your business, that may be an entirely different story. Regardless, it is best to speak with a licensed CPA for more details.

Can I profit from items I donate to this site?

While the intent of this program is to make donations to benefit needy schools and children in our local community, we do understand there may be items in which you need to recover a minimum cost. We only ask that you submit proof as to the value of your submitted item and request no more than 50% of the value of that item to be returned after sale. If your goal is to maximize your profit by selling items online, we suggest you sell your items at local resell shops, Amazon or eBay.

Do I have to pay for shipping?

Yes. Once your offer has been accepted, you will be notified and have the option of choosing your preferred shipping method. We do not charge a handling fee for this service. You will pay only the amount charged to us by the USPS. For rates, CLICK HERE.

I'm a teacher. How can I get my school on this list?

First of all, thank you for positively influencing our children! Even though Kim (aka. The Insurance Teacher) is retired from the industry, her passion for helping children has not dwindled. Kim continues to volunteer at local schools and even develop programs like this to help when she can.
